We recommend high quality Schmetz sewing needles for your projects! We carry a wide range of sizes and specialty uses for various fabrics.
Sewing Tip: Needles need to be sharp to work well. If the fabric starts to "pull" or the machine makes a "thump" sound as it sews, then you might need to change your needle. As a general rule, you should change your needle after ten hours of actual sewing regardless.
UNIVERSAL NEEDLES
These can be used for most types of fabrics. They come in different sizes depending on how thick your fabric is.
Size 70/10 - meant for fine fabrics such as sheer, chiffon or light satin
Size 80/12 - meant for cottons and medium weight; a good "all purpose" needle to have
Size 90/14 - meant for medium weight fabrics, or for several layers of cotton
Size 100/16 - meant for heavier weight fabrics such as denim
SPECIALTY NEEDLES
These are meant for specific types of fabrics. They will allow for a nice, even stitch that may not be possible with a universal needle
Leather Multi-Size Pack - use for leather, suede or vinyl fabrics of various thicknesses
Jersey/Ball Point 80/12 - use for knits and stretch fabric (does not break elastic fibres)
